I joined Burnett Barker Solicitors in 2017 as I was nearing the completion of my Graduate Diploma in Law at the University of East Anglia (UEA).
My initial role was as a Residential Property Paralegal, where I soon found that I thoroughly enjoyed the world of residential conveyancing.
With aspirations to progress my legal career, I was keen to qualify as a Licensed Conveyancer. With Burnett Barker Solicitor’s support, I qualified within two and a half years while continuing to work as a paralegal.
When asked why I chose to specialise in conveyancing, the answer is quite simple. I like the fast-paced nature of the work and there’s a strong investigative element to property transactions. I enjoy the challenge of quickly finding a solution to a query to progress a sale or purchase.
Personally, I find it very rewarding to guide clients through the conveyancing process, especially when a purchase means so much to them.
Outside of work, I can be found reading psychological thrillers – I have hundreds of books and I am always looking for recommendations. I also enjoy country walks with my partner and our cocker spaniel, Rolo.

Dawn Coleman
Conveyancing Assistant
As Conveyancing Assistant, Dawn’s role is to assist with all the administrative elements of the conveyancing process.
We’re lucky to have Dawn on our team, as she has more than 30 years of residential conveyancing experience. When asked why she loves her job, she says, “For most people, purchasing a home is the largest amount of money they will spend in their lives. Knowing that I’ve helped to make the process as seamless as possible is what I really enjoy.”
There were two main reasons why Dawn decided to join Burnett Barker Solicitors in 2022. She values working for a local law firm where clients receive a consistent conveyancer from start to finish. She also shares the attributes that we hold dear, open and honest communication.
