What are the benefits of a Fixed Fee Family Law Consultation?

Whether you intend to start divorce proceedings, or your ex-partner already has, our fixed fee family law consultation can be enormously helpful.

If you want to know where you stand and what your options are, we offer a one-to-one fixed fee family law consultation for £149. Most clients discover something they were unaware of in this consultation and leave filing more in control.

Why do we charge for our initial consultation?

Unlike many legal firms who offer a ‘free’ 20 or 30-minute consultation, we think it’s important that you are given enough time and attention to discuss your specific family circumstances, rather than be given generic advice that could just as easily be obtained on the internet. That’s one of the reasons why we charge for these types of consultations.

As part of the initial consultation, and following your sharing of personal and financial details, our divorce solicitors will advise you on your possible outcome and the next steps you could take. Most of our clients feel far more in control just knowing what their options are.

How do you prepare for your Fixed Fee Family Law Consultation?

Fixed fee family law consultation

If this is the first time you’ve sought the help of a divorce lawyer, it’s likely you won’t know quite what to expect from your first meeting. For many people, the very idea of having to talk about circumstances very personal to them can be daunting, that’s why it helps to come prepared.

Here’s a checklist of what we recommend you think about and bring with you to your fixed fee family law consultation:

  • Write down when you got married, started living together, both yours and your ex-partner’s date of birth, and any children you have
  • Detail any assets of financial value – it’s helpful if you have a realistic value of your home, the current size of your mortgage, as well as any investments, savings, pensions, and incomes.
  • If you’re confident you want to start divorce proceedings, it’s helpful to bring along a copy of your marriage certificate.

Sometimes, if you’re meeting a divorce solicitor for the first time, you may feel more comfortable bringing a friend or family member for support. That’s completely fine. All we ask is that you let us know in advance so that we can welcome you both on arrival.
