Children
Financial Settlement
Pre-nuptial agreements
Grandparents rights
Memberships & Accreditations:
Law Society Family Law Accreditation Scheme
Resolution accredited specialist in complex financial and property matters
Resolution accredited specialist in children law
Specialist Collaborative family lawyer
I head up Burnett Barker's Family Law department. Accredited by the Law Society and by Resolution, I help sort out what can be complex issues involving the care of your children, your home and your finances.
Clients say that I am approachable and understanding.
When you first come to see me, we will discuss your situation and I will give you the information you need to understand the options available to you, and the likely associated costs, so that you can decide how and when to proceed.
You will not have to make any decisions immediately - unless it is necessary to take urgent steps to safeguard your or a child’s personal safety.
As a member of Resolution, I attempt to conduct matters in a constructive and non-confrontational way.
I am often able to reach agreement on your behalf, avoiding Court proceedings and around 85% of family matters are resolved this way. Going to Court is always an option if agreement cannot be reached.
Where children are involved in divorce and separation cases, I work to minimise conflict and reduce the impact of separation and divorce on children.

Laura Day
Family Law Secretary
As Family Law Secretary, I am the first point of contact for clients - arranging appointments and telephone conferences and generally keeping all parties up to date on what's happening. Whilst Family law can be complex and challenging at times, it can so be rewarding and I very much enjoy helping families to resolve their issues in the best possible way.
