New Residential Conveyancing Assistant Post [UPDATED: Vacancy Now Filled]

We have a new full-time post for an Assistant in our Residential Conveyancing team:

You will be working as part of our Residential Conveyancing Team, completing administrative tasks in residential UK property transactions, enabling our expert lawyers to focus on complex legal issues.

We use specialist legal software and Office 2010 on Windows 7 PC’s.

The work will involve a variety of tasks which will grow with time including, for example,:

  • Creating and updating electronic records
  • Sending standard introductory and update letters / emails
  • Preparing documentation
  • Efficient file management (paper and electronic files)
  • Face-to-face and telephone contact with clients and third parties
  • Uploading documents

Salary will primarily be commensurate with the role but dependant to some extent on your relevant experience.

This is a full time post.

We have a great reputation for our low staff turnover and a challenging and friendly working environment.

Our offices are situated in the heart of Bury St Edmunds town centre and are therefore a sought-after work place, offering convenient shopping access at lunchtimes to many high street names as well as quality independent retailers.

Employment opportunities are open and accessible to all on the basis of their individual qualities and personal merit. We wish to recruit from the widest pool of qualified candidates possible and consider all applicant regardless of disability; gender; marital status; race; racial group; colour; ethnic or national origin; nationality; religion or belief; or sexual orientation.

You will probably have experience of working in an administrative or secretarial role, but previous experience in the legal field is not necessary (although it would obviously be an advantage).

Full training will be given in-house to provide you with the skills required, so you must be able to take and follow instruction.

This is a fast-paced working environment and you will need to have clear and concise communication skills enabling confident communication with peers, clients and relevant third parties. Experience of working in a professional services environment would of course be an advantage but is not a requirement.

You must be able to manage your time and workload and be able to work well under pressure to meet ongoing deadlines.

You must be numerate and able to spell. Reasonable examination grades in English and Mathematics are therefore expected, although we will happily consider anyone giving a sufficient explanation for lower grades.
